2012 Festival Information

LOCATION:

The WVBBF takes place along the Willamette River in Island Park, Springfield.
It is a short drive from I-5, so be sure to check the Directions Page.
The festival will go on, rain or shine.

FESTIVAL HOURS:

Friday – Gates open at 4:30pm

Saturday – Gates open at 1:00pm

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Photo I.D.
  • Sunscreen/Hat
  • Lawn Chairs: No Hi-backed or hi-legged Lawn chairs please.
    The Festival will be packed so get there early for best seating.
  • Chairs with legs less than 6” may be placed anywhere.
  • Tarps/Blanket: (no bigger than 5’ X 8’ – and please consider sharing your tarp or blanket if you’re not using all of it)
  • Your Personal Camera
  • Strollers are allowed
  • Rain Gear (Festival goes on Rain or Shine)

 

 

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

  • Coolers, water/soda bottles, cans, or food items (Unopened, factory-sealed water bottles are OK!)
  • No Alcohol may be brought into the festival – Beer and Wine are available for purchase
  • No Illegal Drugs
  • No Unlicensed Vending
  • No Professional Photo Equipment, Video Cameras or Video Recording Equipment
  • No Frisbees

NO PETS! Please leave your pet at home – they are not allowed on the festival grounds. Do not leave your pet in your car or tied to your car! Exception – Service dogs with proper identification (vests) allowed.

 

 

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

  • Credit Cards accepted at admissions and for purchase of beer tokens
  • A wide variety of Food and Craft Vendors

PHOTO AND AUDIO RECORDING GUIDELINES:

Personal audio taping and photography at the festival is permitted, unless the performing artist requests otherwise. Recording devices must be self-contained (we do not provide AC outlets or patches to the soundboard). There is no designated area for taping or photos. Professional video or audio recordings are not allowed without express consent of the festival organizers and the performers.

 

 

LOCAL ORDINANCES WE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCING:

  • Open alcohol containers (beer cans, bottles, etc.) are not allowed in the City of Springfield.
  • You are not allowed to leave the festival with unconsumed beer or wine. Unopened bottles will be allowed to leave the grounds.
  • Please be aware that sleeping in your vehicle on the streets of Springfield is illegal.
  • Camping is not allowed in the parking lot of the Festival.
  • Parking: We have a specific parking lot for the festival, just adjacent to the park. You are free to park wherever you can find a legal parking spot in Springfield.
  • Handicap Parking/Facilities: A limited amount of handicap parking is available in the Island Park parking lot. The festival is wheelchair accessible and we provide a space in front of the sound booth for those in wheelchairs. Handicap port-a-potties are provided on the festival grounds.

Debbie Davies

Our Friday night headliner is the extraordinary guitarist Debbie Davies, winner of the 2010 BMA Koko Taylor "Traditional Female Blues Artist" award.

Also performing on Friday evening is dynamic trombonist Randy Oxford, winner of multiple awards including the 2010 Best of the Blues "Best Blues Horn" award.

Ty Curtis Band

This Oregon based blues/rock band has won several awards, including taking second place in the 2009 International Blues Challenge finals. They are a NW favorite and will deliver a dynamic show.

Mia Vermillion

With a #2 hit on B.B. King's Bluesville and a great set at 2011 Waterfront Blues Festival under her belt, Vermillion has been rising quickly in the blues scene and will kick off this years' festival with the opening set on Friday.

Brother Yusef

On Saturday night, blues
dancers will be unable to stand still during the hard driving set of highly
regarded master guitarist Brother Yusef.  You won't believe your
ears, and you won't be able to get out on that dance floor fast enough!

Madman Sam

Sam represents the Cascade Blues Association at the 2012 IBC in
Memphis in the solo/duo competition.  His electrifying roots blues show is
perfect to headline the Papa Soul Stomp Stage on Saturday.

Eagle Park Slim

This Eugene blues icon will
open the festival on Saturday afternoon on Papa’s stage, pounding out classics
and originals along with several special guests while we help him celebrate his 70th birthday.





100% of funds raised by this event, after expenses, support the local Habitat for Humanity. Monies earned will go toward satisfying Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building simple, decent homes in partnership with people in need.
